Forget Paris: Henry and New York advance to face Robbie Keane's Galaxy

The Republic of Ireland skipper returned to full training in LA yesterday just in time for the first leg of the Western Conference semi-finals.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND captain Robbie Keane returned to full training with the LA Galaxy yesterday, just in time for a meeting with an old rival on Sunday.

The MLS playoffs begin this weekend, and Keane and company have been pitted against Parisian nemesis Thierry Henry and his New York Red Bulls in the two-legged Western Conference semis.

Yesterday’s training session was Keane’s first since picking up an adductor strain three weeks ago. Although he is still far from fully fit and may only play a limited part at the weekend, the news of his recovery will be a huge boost to Giovanni Trapattoni ahead of next month’s Euro 2012 playoffs.

As for Henry and the Red Bulls, they withstood a late charge to hold off FC Dallas 2-0 last night in their Wild Card match and book their place in the semis.

Joel Lindpere opened the scoring in the 61st minute before Henry wrapped up the win with a second six minutes into injury time.
