Four arrested over kidnapping of Carlos Tevez's father

The adoptive parent of the Juventus striker was detained for eight hours.

ARGENTINE POLICE HAVE arrested three men and a woman over the kidnapping in July of the father of star footballer Carlos Tevez, judicial sources said on Saturday.

Segundo Tevez, the adoptive father of the Juventus striker, was detained for eight hours by the kidnappers, who attacked him while he was in his vehicle on July 29 near Buenos Aires.

According to press reports, the family paid 600,000 pesos ($71,000) for his release.

The four people arrested are aged 22 to 27. Two of them are Paraguayan and are brother and sister, a source was quoted as saying by the Telam news agency.

The group had allegedly planned only to rob the senior Tevez but demanded a ransom for his release after discovering he was the father of Argentina international footballer Carlos.
