Four left in contention for Mayo job

Tommy Lyons, John Maughan, James Horan and Anthony McGarry all still in the running.

FOUR NAMES REMAIN in the running to become the next manager of the Mayo senior football team as interviews are to be held later this week, according to a report in The Mayo News.

John Maughan, James Horan, Tommy Lyons and Anthony McGarry have all been short-listed by the Mayo County Board after informal meetings last week.

All four candidates will be interviewed by a sub-committee of the county board. Each candidate will  be asked to outline their plans for the role, the proposed make-up of their backroom team and the estimated costs behind their potential regimes.

James Horan and John Maughan are favourites locally after the withdrawal of Mick O’Dwyer.
