IT’S DESTINED TO go down alongside this and this as one of the all-time great moments of football commentary, but Gary Neville is insisting that there’s a rather simple explanation behind his Fernando Torres “goalgasm” last night.
You see, he had a sore throat. That’s what prompted the delirious moan of “ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.
To be honest, that explanation is about as believable as John Terry’s “Sanchez checked his run so I shifted my weight onto my back foot and jerked my knee into his back as a reflex” line.
But in the Neviller’s defence, he’s sticking to his story and even fleshed it out a bit this morning.
