Irish youngster included in list of up-and-coming Premier League talents to watch

Remember the name: Gavin Kilkenny.

IRISH UNDERAGE INTERNATIONAL Gavin Kilkenny has been included in The Guardian’s annual list of young Premier League talents to watch out for.

The Bournemouth youngster has represented Ireland U17s and joined the club after 10 seasons with reputed Dublin schoolboy side St Kevin’s Boys, whose past players also include Liam Brady, Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady.

“He’s a fairly attack-minded winger, he’s bright, has got good feet, good technical ability and a good work-rate,” the Cherries’ youth team manager Carl Fletcher is quoted as saying.

Kilkenny is not the first Irish player to feature on the list, as last year, Boys in Green underage players James Finnerty (Aston Villa) and Kian Flanagan (Crystal Palace) were included.

Meanwhile, the 2014 list was notable for featuring Marcus Rashford, who has since gone on to establish himself in the Man United first team.

At the time, the report noted: “In a youth system bristling with starlets Rashford’s total-football style gives him a fair chance of going all the way.”
