GERMAN STAR LUKAS PODOLSKI WAS lucky to escape without injury following a serious car crash yesterday morning.
Three people were taken to hospital as a precaution after the car in which they were travelling was hit by the FC Köln forward as he drove to training.
Although Podolski’s black Mercedes had to be towed away with over €18,000 worth of damage done, the player himself was unhurt and travelled on to the club’s headquarters after checking up on the others involved in the collision.
The 26-year-old was treated by club medical staff on arrival but insisted that this was a scheduled appointment for a calf injury which he picked up against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend.
