LIVERPOOL TODAY CONFIRMED that Steven Gerrard will have surgery on a recurring shoulder problem this week.
The news means the 32-year-old will miss England’s historic friendly with Ireland on May 29 in Wembley.
The surgery also rules him out of Liverpool’s final two Premier League games against Fulham and QPR.
In breaking the news, a statement on the club’s website simply said:
Despite the setback, Gerrard had a good campaign with Liverpool, only missing 17 minutes of action through injury this season.
