It would be foolish to put too much faith in the pre-season friendlies as an indicator of team form heading into the new season, but Barcelona’s defeat last night at the hands of Chivas Guadalajara nonetheless came as a shock.
With ten minutes of the second half gone, Barcelona led the Mexican side by a goal to nil. It’s at that point that Chivas’ 22-year-old midfielder, Marco Fabian, entered a fifeen-minute spell of game-changing, possibly career-changing, form.
Picking the ball up about thirty yards from goal, Fabian fired a dipping shot over the head of Barcelona reserve ‘keeper Pinto to draw the scores level. Stunning though that effort was, it was eclipsed by his second goal of the night, a gravity-defying bicycle kick, less than five minutes later. Enjoy.
