Gunnar Nelson headlines UFC Glasgow with Ward and Seery already on the card

The Icelander will face hard-hitting Argentine Santiago Ponzinibbio in July.

SBG FIGHTER GUNNAR Nelson will take on Santiago Ponzinibbio in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Glasgow on 16 July.

The Icelandic welterweight as battled his way into the top 10 of the 170lb division with seven wins (six by submission) in his nine UFC outings. His opponent Ponzinibbi0 is unbeaten in four bouts since featuring in Ultimate Fighter Brazil.

Nelson is the third big Irish interest on the card after flyweight Neil Seery (v Alexandre Pantoja) and welterweight Charlie Ward (v Galore Bofando) were earlier additions to the card.

A strawweight bout between Scotland’s Joanne Calderwood (another graduate of Ultimate Fighter), and Cynthia Calvillo has been announced as the co-main event.
