Wexford 2-16 Carlow 0-20

WEXFORD LEFT IT late to get the better of Carlow in the All-Ireland SHC Qualifier at Wexford Park.

The Barrowsiders opened their account from a free before Jack Guiney evened it up with a set-piece of his own. Wexford found the back of the net on 17 minutes through Podge Doran but the Model County were second best for much of the first half.

Liam Dunne’s side had a slight breeze with them after the break and Garrett Sinnott kept them in touch but Carlow continued strongly and took up a five-point advantage.

Guiney converted two more frees and substitute Eoin Quigley contributed with a score of his own and they were given a real boost on 57 minutes when David Redmond fired in a second goal.

That put two points between them and with five minutes on the clock they had pulled level. From there, Ciaran Kenny and Guiney stepped up to the mark with vital scores before the final whistle.
