REAL MADRID STRIKER Gonzalo Higuain is closing in on a move to Arsenal, according to the player’s brother and agent.
The Argentinian stated his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu following the conclusion of the 2012-13 campaign and has subsequently been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Juventus.
However, the 25-year-old’s sibling and representative has now revealed that the Premier League outfit are in pole position to capture the 25-year-old.
“I think that Higuain is now closer to Arsenal,” Nicolas Higuain told TMW today. “Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them.”
Nicolas again underlined the Gunners’ status as favourites for his brother’s signature when asked whether Serie A outfit Napoli, who are widely expected to lose striker Edinson Cavani, could become involved.
“Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines,” he continued. “Saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.” Higuain joined Real Madrid from River Plate in 2007 and has scored 122 goals in 266 appearances for the Spanish club.
