DOUBLE WINNERS LEINSTER tonight unveiled their coaching ticket for the season ahead with Hugh Hogan joining Felipe Contepomi as the new members of the backroom team.

Contepomi’s appointment as backs coach to replace Bath-bound Girvan Dempsey was announced in June, but Hogan’s addition to the group as contact skills coach was made official at a Q&A session with under age coaches from Bective and Old Wesley.

In introducing Hogan, a former back row with St Mary’s, head coach Leo Cullen reasoned that the professional game brings an ever-increasing need for specialisation from coaches to help players in all positions excel in all facets.

Hogan joined the eastern province in 2013 as an elite player development officer. Since then he has coached Leinster’s age grades and A team and has also spent time with the Ireland Sevens programme.

Though appointed to the senior coaching staff, he will continue to work on the tackle and ruck area with age grade players and coaches throughout the province.
