Injuries force Trap to call on Clark

Injuries have seen Giovanni Trapattoni make a late addition to his squad ahead of Ireland’s fixture against Croatia.

CIARAN CLARK IS a late call-up to Giovanni Trapattoni’s final 21-man squad for the Republic of Ireland’s international against Croatia on Wednesday evening.

The Aston Villa man is included after James McCarthy, Damien Delaney, Seamus Coleman and Keith Fahey were all withdrawn because of injuries picked up in club games over the weekend.

Stoke City’s Jon Walters is a concern, despite being named in the squad, and will be fully assessed once he arrives into camp, as will Marc Wilson – who now travels to Dublin for the game.

Squad v Croatia: Shay Given, Keiren Westwood, David Forde, Stephen Kelly, Stephen Ward, Richard Dunne, Ciaran Clark, Sean St. Ledger, Darren O’Dea, Glenn Whelan, Darron Gibson, Andy Keogh, Damien Duff, Stephen Hunt, James McCarthy, Keith Treacy, Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle, Jon Walters, Shane Long, Simon Cox.
