Inquest into Gary Speed’s death adjourned until January

Coroner asks for the privacy of Wales manager’s family to be respected.

AN INQUEST INTO the death of Wales football team manager Gary Speed has been told that his wife, Louise, found him hanged at their home on Sunday morning.

The proceedings in Warrington have been adjourned until January 30 with reports pending from the pathologist.

The coroner asked for the family’s privacy to be respected.

The former Leeds United, Newcastle and Everton midfielder was discovered in his Cheshire home last weekend. The news stunned the football world.

Tonight, travelling Leeds fans at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground will mark Speed’s passing with a unique tribute.

United supporters say they will chant their league-winning No 11′s name for 11 minutes, starting in the 11th minute.

The Premier League have also announced that there will be a minute’s applause at each top-flight English game this weekend.

Also today, Football Association of Wales chiefs indicated that they will not begin the search to find a replacement for the national side until the new year.

Officials plan to meet on Thursday but the process will not begin now until they meet again after Christmas, at the earliest.
