Arter starts as Ireland name strongest available team for clash with Austria

HARRY ARTER MAKES his competitive debut for Ireland this evening after being named the team to take on Austria (5pm Irish time).

The Bournemouth star features in a midfield alongside Glenn Whelan, Jeff Hendrick, Wes Hoolahan and James McClean, with Jon Walters starting up front in place of the injured Shane Long.

Robbie Brady drops back into full-back as Stephen Ward is unavailable, and the back four is completed by captain Seamus Coleman, Shane Duffy and Ciaran Clark.

Dundalk’s Daryl Horgan has made the bench, but club-mate Andy Boyle won’t have any involvement tonight.

Ireland team to face Austria: Randolph, Coleman (c), Duffy, Clark, Brady, Whelan, Arter, Hendrick, McClean, Hoolahan, Walters.
