IRELAND HAVE CONTINUED their slow rise up the FIFA World Rankings, climbing four places to 62nd following the wins against Oman and Georgia.
It marks the second successive month of improvement for Martin O’Neill’s side who fell to 70th in June — the country’s lowest ever position.
The top two remain unchanged with world champions Germany at number one ahead of Brazil 2014 runners-up Argentina.
Colombia, the Netherlands and Belgium complete the top five.
Roy Hodgson’s England have risen two places to 18th following their wins against Norway and Switzerland earlier this month.
Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualification opponents Scotland have dropped one place to 29th, Poland are down nine to 70th, while Georgia are now outside the world’s top 100 after falling 15 places to 110th.
