IRELAND’S RUN OF below-par performances continued this afternoon as they were beaten by Netherlands in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier semi-final in Malahide.
John Bracewell’s side have now lost six of their last seven completed T20 internationals against fellow Associate nations and a five-wicket reversal in-front of a crowd of 2,500 was symptomatic of their underwhelming tournament.
The defence of the trophy they’ve won twice on the bounce ended limply as their shortcomings with the bat were once again exposed before the Dutch picked off the runs with relative ease.
Whilst disappointing, Ireland had already secured one of the six qualification berths for next year’s World Twenty20 in India.
Netherlands will face Scotland in tomorrow afternoon’s final while Ireland play Hong Kong in the 3rd/4th place playoff at 10am in Malahide.
