RTÉ to broadcast live coverage of Ireland's Grand Slam-defining French clash

Record crowds are set to descend on Ashbourne RFC this Friday for the crucial rugby encounter.

WELCOME ONBOARD THE Ireland Women’s rugby bandwagon.

The national broadcaster will broadcast live coverage of the team’s Six Nations clash with France live on 2fm and on rte.ie this Friday.

TheScore.ie sang the praises of Irish captain Fiona Coghlan and her teammates before their championship defining clash against England in early February.

Ireland produced a stunning performance the following weekend to beat the English 25-0. A third successive victory, away to Scotland, secured the team’s first ever Triple Crown.

A victory over France at Ashbourne RFC on Friday [kickoff 7:30] would put the Irish on-course for their maiden Grand Slam if they could beat Italy in their last game out.

2fm’s Game On will start its radio coverage from 7pm with commentary from Michael Corcoran and former Irish International Rosie Foley.

The game will also be streamed live on RTÉ.ie at 7.30pm within the island of Ireland. Highlights will be shown on the station’s coverage of the Ireland’s Saturday clash with the French men’s side at the Aviva Stadium.

Friday night will also see the live broadcast of the Ireland U20’s encounter with France at Dubarry Park in Athlone on RTÉ Two.

Irish centre Jenny Murphy has predicted that France will pose ‘one of the biggest threats’ of this season’s successful campaign.
