SNAPSHOT: Irish provinces lead the way for home-qualified players
LEINSTER AND MUNSTER have fielded the highest percentage of home-qualified players in the three major European leagues over the last three weekends of action.
As the figures in the tables below show, the provinces have been very reliant on Irish eligible players in the opening weeks of the season, although Connacht lag well behind with 76.8%. The figures from France will make for worrying reading for the FFR, with Toulon bottom of the pile, with just 37.6% of the players they’ve used in the last three weekend being French-qualified.
This is admittedly quite a small sample base, but the Irish provinces are set to continue the trend of promoting home-qualified players in this weekend’s RaboDirect Pro12 action.
