IT’S THAT TIME of the year again. The State of Origin series between the Queensland Maroons and the NSW Blues kicked off in Melbourne today with a bang.

Defending champions Queensland won this morning’s first test 18-10 but the major talking point came in the first half when the Blues Michael Jennings was sinbinned, handing Queensland the advantage.

Jennings is the guy who piles into the (at least) 15-man melee and throws a big right hand before he’s dragged away. We’re not really sure how he’s any more culpable than the other players swinging wildly but maybe we just don’t understand Australian rugby league.

Anyway, we’re looking forward to game two already.
