It's official: Charlotte Bobcats are the worst team in NBA history

Cleveland Cavaliers gave it a good tilt last year and the Toronto Raptors have been woeful forever but Michael Jordan’s team has nose-dived past them all.

IT WAS A case of ‘you lose some, you lose some more’ for the Charlotte Bobcats as they finished their NBA season as the worst team in the league’s history.

The New York Knicks, featuring former player Tyson Chandler, came to town on Thursday night and put the Bobcats to the sword, winning out 104-84.

Michael Jordan, owner of the franchise, watched uncomfortably from the luxury boxes as the Bobcats were defeated.

The side finished with a win-loss record of 7-59, which works out as a paltry win percentage of .106.

Speaking after the game, guard Gerald Henderson called the season ‘unacceptable’. He added:

This doesn’t sit very well with me. These last 10 games, we’ve really tried to get after it, compete and not get that record. It just didn’t happen for us. We just didn’t have enough (and) couldn’t come up with the plays.

Their sorry end to the season saw them dip below the previous low-point, set by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1972-73.

Only a season on from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ disastrous 26-game losing stretch, the Bobcats have stitched together a season of consistent, pitiful basketball to reach the new low.

The Bobcats drafted the promising Kemba Walker for the strike-shortened season but will need to pick wisely at the next draft if they are to improve next year.

Michael Jordan will have to produce the cheque book but a miracle or two would also be welcomed.
