Did you know Jason Statham competed at the Commonwealth Games?
THIS YEAR’S COMMONWEALTH Games begin with the opening ceremony in Glasgow tonight, so the BBC have gone digging through their archives for classic footage and unearthed this gem.
Before making it big in Hollywood, actor Jason Statham — famous for his roles in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch as well as some awful films such as Crank and The Transporter — competed as a diver.
Sporting a fine head of hair, the then 22-year-old took part in the 1990 Games in Auckland, New Zealand, where he didn’t have much success in the 3m springboard or the 10m platform.
