John Joe Nevin pencilled in for Boston fight on St Patrick's Day

The Olympic silver medallist will make his professional debut in February before a second bout on 17 March.

IRELAND’S JOHN JOE Nevin will make his professional debut next month before fighting in Boston on St Patrick’s Day, it has been announced.

The Mullingar bantamweight, who made the move into pro boxing and signed with Greenblood Boxing and Berkeley Sports and Media back in October, has been training in Philadelphia with Irish coach Brian McKeown recently ahead of his first two bouts.

While the details of his debut haven’t been confirmed, Green Blood’s Tom Moran expects it to take place sometime in February before he fights at the House of Blues on 17 March.

24-year-old Nevin won gold at last year’s European Championships and a silver at the London Olympics in 2012 before making the switch.
