John Terry's victory speech was like Father Ted accepting the Golden Cleric
The Chelsea captain threw a dig at his former coach Rafa Benitez.

CHELSEA SEALED THE Premier League title after a win over Crystal Palace yesterday and John Terry was naturally delighted.

Not only did JT pick up his fourth league winners medal, but he has played every minute of Chelsea’s 35 games so far, which is pretty remarkable for a defender at the age of 34.

It isn’t that long ago that Rafa Benitez said Terry was no longer capable of playing two games in a week. That barb obviously didn’t sit well with the centre back given the manner in which he answered a reporter’s question after yesterday’s game.

“One person said I couldn’t play twice in a week – he knows who he is,Terry said. “I’ve not only proved him wrong but proved everyone wrong. I’m still fighting, still in the side, feeling great.”

‘One person said I couldn’t play twice in one week – he knows who he is’ is very, very Father Ted-esque.

You were just waiting for Terry to say, ‘there are a lot of familiar faces here today. Some welcome…. some not so welcome.’
