JON ANIK WAS pretty confident that Conor McGregor would get the job done against Nate Diaz last weekend… so much so that he vowed to get a Diaz-themed tattoo if the result somehow didn’t go the Irish fighter’s way.
Well, as we’re sure you’re aware by now, McGregor suffered his first taste of defeat in the UFC last Saturday night in Las Vegas when Diaz upset the odds by submitting him in the main event at UFC 196.
Speaking on The Anik & Florian Podcast — which he hosts with former UFC fighter and fellow commentator Kenny Florian — Anik said a few days before the fight that he’d get his first tattoo if Diaz managed to clinch the victory.
“I’m going to say it here for the masses to hear: I will get the area code 209 tattooed on the inside of my forearm if Nate Diaz beats Conor McGregor,” Anik said.
The 209 area code applies to Stockton, Diaz’s hometown in California. At the post-event press conference following his win against McGregor, Diaz sent a reminder to Anik about his promise: “Jon Anik better get a motherfuckin’ 209 tattoo or I’m gonna whoop his little ass.”
Anik has been true to his word, posting the results of his failed bet on social media.
