REPUBLIC OF IRELAND international Keith Treacy has been let go by Premier League new-boys Burnley.

The Dubliner, who joined the Clarets in 2011 from Preston, made 75 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.

Brought to Turf Moor by Eddie Howe, the left-winger found the going tough early on and a lack of playing time ensured he was sent on loan to Sheffield Wednesday in 2012. But, with the arrival of Sean Dyche as the club’s manager, Treacy began to find his feet.

Earlier this season, he was afforded a run of starts but was always playing for a contract and, with Dyche using him more as an impact substitute, he was always up against it once Burnley achieved promotion to the top-flight.

Earlier this year, he remained philosophical about his future.

“I’d love to stay. If it doesn’t come it doesn’t come, it’s not the end of the world. As I’ve always said you don’t get too high with the highs or too low with the lows, just play football and see what happens.”

Burnley are busy fine-tuning their squad ahead of another Premier League campaign.

Treacy has made six appearances for theIreland, the last of which came against Croatia in 2011.
