Kelly to lead Ireland out against Uruguay

Only Kieran Westwood, Kevin Foley and Darren O’Dea retain their places with the majority of the Irish side either rested or released to their clubs following Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Macedonia.

Fulham defender Stephen Kelly has been handed the captain’s armband for tomorrow night’s game while James McCarthy will make his first start in a green jersey. The Wigan midfielder is expected to play behind Shane Long in an experimental 4-2-3-1 formation.
