Alex Mowatt heads Leeds to victory after mild scare against Cambridge

Two goals in eight minutes from Stuart Dallas and Mowatt secured their place in the FA Cup fourth round.

Cambridge 1

Leeds United 2

DESPITE TRAILING AT half-time, Leeds United had enough in the locker to book their place in the FA Cup fourth round at Cambs Glass Stadium tonight.

Cambridge’s impressive striker Uche Ikpeazu gave the home side hope of an upset with his 25th minute goal, but Leeds turned on the style after the break.

The found the net twice in an eight minute spell, with efforts from Stuart Dallas and Alex Mowatt handing the Championship playoff contenders a 2-1 lead on 63 minutes.

Mowatt, Leeds’s best player on the night, guided his header into the net after Pontus Jannson’s flick on from the corner kick.

That goal was enough to book their place in the fourth round, where they face a trip to either AFC Wimbledon or Sutton United.
