Leinster want an Escape to Victory - here's who we would cast

Someone better check for tunnel digging antics at Sandy Park this Saturday.

JOE SCHMIDT PUT the call out for Brazilian World Cup legend Pele after Leinster defeated Scarlets on Saturday.

Asked if he was plotting a great escape from Heineken Cup Pool 5, Schmidt started to talk about Escape to Victory.

“It’s a great movie,” Schmidt told TheScore.ie. ”Some of the acting in it probably isn’t great.

“If Pele’s available, he’s more than welcome.”

The Leinster coach’s comments got us thinking about the World War Two classic, made in 1981, about a Prisoner of War team summoned to Paris to play the Germans.

We retreated to a bunker for 72 hours, emerging occasionally to report on Oprah v. Lance and Jonny Sexton’s wooing by Racing Metro, but the cast-list is complete.

Leinster want an Escape to Victory - here's who we would cast
1 / 7
  • Brian O'Driscoll and Michael Caine

  • Leo Cullen and Bobby Moore

  • Jonathan Sexton and Pele

  • Sylvester Stallone and Rocky Elsom

  • Jamie Heaslip and John Wark

  • Ossie Ardiles and Isa Nacewa

  • Tom Hayes and Werner Roth

A Leinster win away to Exeter, coupled with a bonus point, would certainly be something straight out of a film script.

Is there any player that would be better suited for plotting Leinster’s escape this weekend [or from a half-time dressing room]?

Opinion: 3 Heineken Cup wins from 4 but foreboding sense remains
