Kilkenny and Wexford into Leinster MHC semi-finals

Carlow and Offaly fell by the wayside today.

Kilkenny 3-22 Carlow 0-7

KILKENNY HAD 24 points to spare over neighbours Carlow as they booked their spot in the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship semi-final today.

With a strong wind in the first half the Cats came out firing, Alan Murphy contributing 1-2 as they took a 1-7 to 0-1 lead inside the opening 15 minutes. They continued to outscore Carlow as the half continued and took a 1-14 to  0-2 lead into the break.

Murphy grabbed his second goal in the 45th minute and Danny O’Connor scored Kilkenny’s third seven minutes from time as Pat Hoban’s men eased to victory.

Wexford 0-18

Offaly 1-9

Wexford will join them in the semi-finals after overcoming 14-man Offaly in Wexford Park on Saturday.

Once again, a favourable wind in the first half helped Wexford’s cause and they were six points clear after 13 minutes and looked like going into the half-time break with a comfortable lead.

However, 1-1 from Offaly – Conor Freeman with the goal – in first half injury time made it 0-10 to 1-3 at the break.

While the scores weren’t as free-flowing in the second half, the home side never looked in trouble and ran out six-point winners.

Wexford and Kilkenny join Laois and Dublin in the final four.
