HOW MANY FACEBOOK friends do you have? As many as Leo Messi?

The Argentine football genius joined the social networking site this morning – and has already picked up 6.7million friends.

Fans flocked to his page after he posted earlier, writing: “Hola! Welcome to everyone. Thank you very much for the great number of messages that I have received. I am so excited! From now on we will be more closely connected….”

Tech site TheNextWeb think the huge influx of fans might well be a record.

They write: “We’re not sure if this is a record number of followers for a fan page in such a short time, but if it’s not, it should be.

“Rapper Lil-Wayne set a record for likes on a single post in one day back in February and currently has over 20 million followers but the speed of response by Messi’s fans seems set to eclipse that in short order.”

How many do you think he’ll get in the first 24 hours? I’ve a book in my desk here for the nearest estimate.
