Limerick confirm Scully sacking

The First Division title winners have parted company with their manager a month after winning the title.

Update 19.14

AIRTRICITY LEAGUE FIRST Division champions Limerick have parted company with their manager Pat Scully.

The Dubliner led the Blues the second tier title in October after assembling a talented squad with the help of Limerick businessman and club chairman Pat O’Sullivan.

However, ahead of their return to the Premier Division, the clubs confirmed this evening that Scully has been sacked. The details behind the decision remain unclear and it comes two weeks after assistant manager Mark Dempsey left the club.

A brief statement reads: “Limerick FC and manager Pat Scully have parted company. The board of Limerick FC wish Pat all the best for the future. Limerick FC will now advertise the vacant position of manager in the near future.”

It is exciting times for the club – as well as returning to the top flight there is also the possibility of them playing their home games at Munster’s Thomond Park with discussions believed to be ongoing – but the priority will now be to secure a new manager before the season begins next March.
