Lionel Messi dedicated Barcelona's win last night to his late coach

Meanwhile, Real Madrid decreased their rivals’ lead at the top to two points.

LIONEL MESSI HAS dedicated Barcelona’s derby win over Espanyol on Saturday to former coach Tito Vilanova.

The Argentine added to Neymar’s early goal as the Liga leaders won 2-0 at Cornella-El Prat to move clear of Real Madrid.

The match marked one year to the day since Vilanova passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer, and Messi was quick to pay his respects following the win.

Writing on his official Facebook page, the Argentina captain said: “Tito, you’ll always be with us in memory and our hearts.”

Barca now turn their attentions to a clash with Getafe at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid decreased their rivals’ lead at the top to two points, as they beat Celta Vigo 4-2 this evening.
