Barcelona remember 14th anniversary of the day Lionel Messi arrived

The little Argentine genius has come a long way since leaving his homeland back in 2000.

ON 17 September, 2000, a 13-year-old Argentine boy with growth problems arrived in Barcelona to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Skip forward 14 years and Lionel Messi has guaranteed his place among the all-time greats — winning six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and four Ballon d’Ors.

The Catalan club today tweeted this picture of his youth team ID to mark the anniversary.
