BOHEMIANS EXTENDED THEIR unbeaten run to three games and moved towards the top half of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division with a hard-fought win in Longford.

Kurtis Byrne’s early strike was enough to separate the sides at the City Calling Stadium with Bohs climbing to seventh place and now nine points clear of the danger zone.

It took the visitors just two minutes to hit the front as Byrne found the net for the third time this season.

Longford – rooted to the foot of the table with just eight points – found themselves on the back foot from the off and any hope of a comeback was hit when Don Cowan saw red after 72 minutes.

It’s now six games unbeaten either side of the mid-season break for Keith Long’s charges, who find themselves in a position to challenge for a European spot.

Longford: Paul Skinner, Conor Powell, Noel Haverty, Daniel O’Reilly, Mark Hughes, Kealan Dillon, Kevin O’Connor, David O’Sullivan, Kaleem Simon, Philip Gannon, Rhys Gorman.

Bohemians: Dean Delaney, Derek Pender, Lorcan Fitzgerald, Roberto Lopes, Derek Prendergast, Daniel Byrne, Keith Buckley, Kurtis Byrne, Paddy Kavanagh, Dylan Hayes, Ismahil Akinade.
