Mailey volley helps Harps climb table with comfortable win in Longford

Tony McNamee put the result beyond doubt in the second half.

Longford Town 0

Finn Harps 2

A GOAL IN either half in front of just 351 people at the City Calling Stadium saw the home side rooted to the foot of the SSE Airtricity Division Table.

An 18th minute Josh Mailey half-volley looped over goalkeeper Paul Skinner to set Finn Harps on course for victory and a 12-point advantage over tonight’s opposition.

Town were unable to respond and the result was put beyond doubt on 74 minutes when Tony McNamee struck for the Donegal club.

Harps travelled to the midlands with a nine-point advantage over the league’s bottom club and they head back north this evening looking up after draws for Bohemians, Sligo and defeat for St Patrick’s Athletic left them in eighth; ahead of the former and just three points behind the latter.
