AS IT HAPPENED

As it happened: Man Utd v Crystal Palace and Watford v Liverpool

We followed the 3pm Premier League kick-offs.

Boyzone are back on the Late Late and Mick McCarthy is Ireland manager; expect to see the Sharpey Shuffle at Old Trafford today.

After a memorable international break, we get back to focusing on the Premier League today with some big hitters out at 3pm.

We’ll keep an eye — mainly on Man Utd v Crystal Palace — but will keep you across everything else too.

Here’s the Liverpool line-up for the visit to Watford:

The Stone Roses’ This Is the One plays and the teams file out to the middle of the pitch. This game is the Irish 3pm broadcast on Sky, incidentally.

We’re up and running…

Bright start from the hosts at Old Trafford. Lukaku wins a header on the edge of the box and knocks it down for Lingard.

It’s one of those balls that’s just asking to be hit. Lingard smashes it against a Palace defender, whereas the rest of us would be retrieving the ball from the next astro pitch.

Matic plays in Martial on the left but the ball won’t drop for him quick enough and he’s smothered out.

Lukaku does well again on the halfway line and he sets Lingard free. Luka Milivojevic cynically takes down the England man and picks up an early booking.

West Ham 0 Man City 1 David Silva has scored after 11 minutes at the London Stadium.

Oooh, very close from Wilf Zaha! Lingard played a loose ball into the middle of the park and Alex Ferguson’s last signing was able to get a shot away. Just wide.

West Ham 0 Man City 2 Raheem Sterling has doubled the champions’ lead in East London. City are a machine.

Let off for United!

Great counter attack from Palace, with Zaha in the middle of it again. The Ivory Coast international held off Matic, played a one-two and then squares for Van Aanholt, who fluffs the chance.

Great saves from Wayne Hennessy.

Ashley Young puts in a good ball which Lingard hots first time. The Welsh keeper makes a fine stop though, before Lukaku has another go. Hennessy saves that too.

Liverpool are still scoreless at Vicarage Road; Fulham have just equalised against Southampton at home and Brighton are beating Leicester 1-0 in the Tinkerman’s first game.

West Ham 0 Man City 3 Leroy Sane’s scored another for Sane and City are showing no sentiment in today’s meeting with their former boss.

Paul Pogba is not having a good game. He’s giving the ball away seemingly every time he has it and his first touch is poor.

Palace have the ball in the net for what is arguably a Lindelof own goal. But it’s ruled out for offside.

We’re back up and running at Old Trafford.

United need to find another gear here or some creativity – this is all very flat 10 minutes into the second half.

Southampton have equalised at Craven Cottage; 2-2 now.

United have the ball in the net thanks to Lukaku but it’s ruled out for offside.

Rashford’s on for Mata and Fellaini replaces Lingard on the hour mark. Let’s see if this makes a diference.

Watford are unlucky not to be awarded a penalty, apparently, with Will Hughes going down in the box. Let off for Liverpool.

Good double save from De Gea and there’s plenty of Palace pressure at the moment. Things are opening up.

Fulham 3 Southampton 2 With City, United and Liverpool all in action at 3pm and Spurs-Chelsea to come later, you wouldn’t have expected this Craven cottage fixture to feature too high up the MOTD running order. They’re making a strong case however.

Mitrovic has just put the hosts ahead once again.

Alexis Sanchez is on for Paul Pogba after 68 minutes.

20 minutes to go at Old Trafford and this is poor fare from the hosts.

Everton 1 Cardiff 0 Gylfi’s scored for the Toffees at home.

SAAAALLLLAAAAH!

Watford 0 Liverpool 1 Guess who’s broken the deadlock at Vicarage Road? Just when you thought it was going to be one of those days when the Reds dropped points and Pep’s T1000 kept going.

Andros Townsend has wasted a massive chanced. He managed to get into the box despite pressure from three Man Utd players but screwed the ball wide.

Roy Hodgson hangs his head in disappointment.

Manchester United v Crystal Palace - Premier League - Old Trafford EMPICS Sport EMPICS Sport

Watford 0 Liverpool 2 It looks to be game over there; Trent Alexander Arnold’s got the second. Jordan Henderson however has been sent off for a second yellow card.

Brilliant header from Lukaku into the corner but Hennessy gets a cross with a strong hand.

Brighton 1 Leicester 1 Jamie Vardy’s having a party and has scored an equalising penalty.

Big chance. Rashford gets on the end of a long diagonal ball into the box but his shot is deflected behind.

Watford 0 Liverpool 3 This looks easy now. Firmino heads in for the 10 men.

We’re into garbage time at Old Trafford.

West Ham 0 Man City 4 Sane scores another in injury time.

Full-time: Man Utd 0 Crystal Palace 0

Boos ring out at Old Trafford. Crystal Palace fought for an important point – their first away to Man Utd since 1989.

It was uninspiring stuff from Mourinho’s side. What did you make of it?
