IT WAS BY no means a first, but Luis Suarez’ mouth got him into trouble yet again today when he appeared to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay’s Group D World Cup win over Italy.
After both players got off the ground following the clash, Chiellini pulled down his shirt to try to convince referee Marco Rodriquez that he had been bitten.
Here’s a close-up.
No action was taken by the referee and, indeed, within minutes Uruguay took the lead against the Europeans (who earlier had Claudio Marchisio sent off). The result is enough to take them into the knock-out stages as group runners-up.
