Tonight we learned... that Mario Götze played in Listowel in 2008

Probably picked up a few midfield tips off Darragh Ó Sé while he was down there.

LONG BEFORE HE was terrorising defenders in the Champions League, Mario Götze was strutting his stuff for the locals down in Listowel.

Here’s a shot of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder challenging Shane Murray during an international U16 friendly between Ireland and Germany in Kerry.

The date? 8 April 2008.
