VIDEO: Gaelic football tekkers from Marty Clarke's old school team

The Collingwood AFL star sent best wishes to his former side before their MacLarnon Cup semi-final yesterday and they responded with a cracking goal.

HE’S BASED IN Melbourne these days plying his trade for the AFL club Collingwood but Down’s Marty Clarke has not forgotten his sporting roots.

The 2010 Allstar winner’s old school St Louis Kilkeel were victorious yesterday in the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup semi-final.

Text messages of support from Clarke and his other past pupils like Down’s Gerard McCartan and Peter Fitzpatrick were used as motivation for the current bunch in their 2-13 to 1-9 win over St Patrick’s (Downpatrick).

And the influence seems to have rubbed off judging by their superb second goal from attacker Piaras Kane.

Watch out for the sublime one-handed flick pass by wing-back Jonathan Connolly in the build-up.
