One O'Connor in, the other out as Mayo look to avoid relegation against Down

A win against relegated Down at Elverys MacHale Park should be enough for Stephen Rochford’s men.

VICTORY FOR MAYO against Down on Sunday should secure Division 1 football for another season and boss Stephen Rochford has made four changes in personnel from the team that scored a vital victory over Roscommon last Sunday.

Missing a number of players through injury and U21 commitments, Rochford has drafted goalkeeper David Clarke, Kevin Keane, Shane Nally and most notably, Cillian O’Connor into his starting line-up.

It’s fit-again Cillian O’Connor’s first League start of the season, following his substitute appearance against Roscommon, but younger brother Diarmuid is out as he’s on U21 duty in the Connacht final.

Robbie Hennelly makes way between the sticks, as do injured pair Ger Cafferkey and Donal Vaughan.

Throw-in at Elverys MacHale Park on Sunday is at 2pm.
