World number four Rory McIlroy had the right to select the Portrush man but instead opted for good friend Graeme McDowell.
“G-Mac’s the next highest on the rankings, so it will be me and him again,” McIlroy said on the eve of the Irish Open at Killarney according to the Guardian.
The trio as well as fellow major winner Pádraig Harrington will tee up at the Irish Open in Killarney tomorrow.
