Alan Pardew sent off after appearing to headbutt David Meyler

It all kicked off on the sidelines of Hull v Newcastle.

NEWCASTLE CAME AWAY from the KC Stadium with a 4 – 1 win over hosts Hull City, but not before an extraordinary clash between Alan Pardew and David Meyler.

Newcastle led the hosts 3 – 1 when Alan Pardew was red carded for violent conduct after appearing to headbutt the Irish midfielder.

Naturally, the Corkman was none to pleased with the Newcastle manager’s advances.

Sean St Ledger wasn’t sure at first, but he soon changed his mind.

On the field, it was a game that should have passed serenely without incident for the Toon, Moussa Sissoko putting the visitors into a 10th minute lead before Loic Remy rounded Allan McGregor to double the lead before the break.

Curtis Davies halved the gap immediately after half-time, but the Magpies broke clear again with Sissoko notching his second of the day, Newcastle’s third in the 55th minute.

All hell broke loose in the 72nd minute with referee Kevin Friend issuing a red card to Pardew and a yellow to Meyler for his angry retaliation. The loss of the manager made no impact on the flow of the game against Hull, though, and Vurnon Anita made it 4 -1 before the final whistle.
