Waterson announced herself on UFC stage with submission win over VanZant

The No. 11 ranked strawweight controlled the contest from the outset.

UFC STARLET PAIGE VanZant lost out to Michelle Waterson via rear naked choke in the first round last night.

The main card on UFC Fight Night Sacramento saw Waterson (14-4) ease to a dominant win over VanZant (7-3). Waterson, a former Invicta FC champion, submitted her 22-year-old opponent midway through the opening round.

The No. 11 ranked strawweight controlled the contest from the outset, landing a number of sidekicks to maintain a comfortable distance between herself and VanZant.

VanZant struggled to close the gap and rushed forward, allowing Waterson to catch her with a number of shots.
