PHILIPPE SAINT-ANDRÉ resisted the temptation to call Morgan Parra up to his France squad for Friday night’s clash with Wales, despite the Clermont man’s recent return to fitness in the Top 14. However, after another poor performance from Jean-Marc Doussain, it had appeared a certainty that Parra would feature against Scotland and Ireland in the closing two rounds.
That theory may be in tatters however, after the always-feisty 25-year-old was sent off against Montpellier yesterday for the headbutt in the video above. Parra took immediate exception to Rene Ranger’s tackle and the TMO had all the footage he needed to inform referee Sebastien Minery that a red card was required.
While next weekend sees the Six Nations on a rest weekend, any sort of ban for Parra would almost definitely rule him out of a late call-up to France’s squad. Despite this carton rouge for their scrum-half in the 25th minute, Clermont went on to win 42-16 to stay at the summit of the Top 14.
