Motion to re-introduce Railway Cup

Miltown Malbay club propose return of the inter-provincial competition.

COUNTY BOARD DELEGATES in Clare are to vote on a motion seeking the revival of the Railway Cup competition.

The motion comes from Miltown Malbay, home club of Noel Walsh, a long-time advocate of the inter-pro series and former Munster selector, according to the Press Association.

They want a task force to be formed by Congress, charged with returning the competition to the GAA calendar.

The Inter-provincial series was not played in 2010 and have not appeared on the official fixture list for 2011.

The Railway Cups were not played in 2010 and have not appeared on the fixture list for 2011 with the GAA telling The Score recently that because of falling attendances and a difficulty with placing it on the calendar it is no longer worth pursuing.
