MAKING FUN OF Americans’ lack of knowledge about soccer is hardly a novel idea, yet the clip below – which promotes NBC’s upcoming Premier League coverage – manages to be pretty funny regardless.
The clip focuses on Ted Lasso (played by comedian Jason Sudeikis) - introduced as a new coach at Tottenham – and his struggles to comprehend the nuances of the English game.
Moreover, unlike most neutral footballing observers, NBC will be hoping the Gareth Bale-to-Real Madrid deal isn’t finalised too quickly.
Otherwise, the clip will look dated pretty quickly.
