Former Man United captain Nemanja Vidic a free agent after Inter release - reports

Anyone looking for a central defender?

INTER MILAN HAVE decided to terminate the contract of Nemanja Vidic, according to widespread reports in Italy.

The former Man United defender hasn’t made an appearance for the Serie A club this season and they are reportedly keen to remove the Serbian from the wage bill.

The 34-year-old’s contract was up in the summer.

Vidic, who moved to the San Siro from Man United in 2014, suffered an injury setback before the season and was then unable to displace regular centre-back pairing Miranda or Jeison Murillo.

He played 23 times for the Italian side last season but has fallen out of favour with Roberto Mancini this time around and is now searching for a new club.

There is reported interest from America while his services may be in demand back in the Premier League with Aston Villa and Everton linked with a move before Christmas.

Vidic spent eight years at Old Trafford, where he won five league titles, three League Cups and the Champions League.

He called time on his Man United career following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and announced a pre-contract agreement with Inter halfway through the 2013/14 campaign.

Inter are currently third in Serie A and are in action at Atalanta on Saturday.
