Power Ranking

A quarter of the way through the season, who is the NFL's best team?

We power rank all 32 NFL teams.

1. New England Patriots (3-0)

Can anyone stop the Patriots from going back-to-back? In the form they’ve started the season, it looks very unlikely.

2. Green Bay Packers (4-0)

The Packers would be as middle-of-the-road as cat’s eyes if it wasn’t for Aaron Rodgers but he continues to make them the NFC’s best team.

3. Cincinnati Bengals (4-0)

Averaging more than 420 yards of offence a game while keeping opponents out of the endzone will always be a winning formula.

4. Atlanta Falcons (4-0)

The Falcons have possibly the easiest schedule in the NFL from here on in. 14 wins is not beyond them if their offence keeps playing this well.

5. Arizona Cardinals (3-1)

The Cardinals outplayed the Rams in just about every area of the game this week except the scoreboard. Pass rushes like St Louis’ don’t come around too often though.

6. Denver Broncos (4-0)

Undoubtedly the best defence in the league, the one worry is that if Peyton Manning looks this bad now, how terrible will he be come December?

7. Seattle Seahawks (1-2)

The Seahawks should get back to .500 this evening with a win over the hapless Lions and the return of Kam Chancellor should see the re-emergence of the Legion of Boom.

8. New York Jets (3-1)

Ever since the Jets got rid of Rex Ryan, they’ve started to play exactly like a Rex Ryan team. It’s not always pretty but it’s mightily effective.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2)

There’s an argument the Steelers would be 4-0 if it wasn’t for kicking troubles but the longer Ben Roethlisberger is out, the further they’re likely to slip down these rankings.

10. Carolina Panthers (4-0)

4-0 is great. But when you’ve played Blake Bortles, Ryan Mallett, Luke McCown and Jameis Winston, it’s the least you should expect. They can’t keep relying on Cam Newton as being the entirety of their offence.

11. Minnesota Vikings (2-2)

An exciting defence but a non-existant offensive line makes the Vikings a team you have to watch from behind the couch but an NFC Wildcard spot doesn’t look beyond them if they can keep Teddy Bridgewater upright.

12. St. Louis Rams (2-2)

Just imagine how good the Rams could be if they had a quarterback? Their defence is scary but it appears the offence won’t be able to score enough points to really make them challengers.

13. Buffalo Bills (2-2)

It’s not for us to give any NFL team advice but when you give away 17 (SEVENTEEN) penalties in a single game you’ve nobody to blame but the head coach. The Bills’ indiscipline starts and ends with Rex Ryan.

14. Dallas Cowboys (2-2)

The Cowboys may not win another game until Tony Romo comes back so expect this to slide by week eight.

15. Oakland Raiders (2-2)

Were it not for a disaster of a day from Latavius Murray the Oakland Raiders could well be looking at their best start to a season in 13-years. Amari Cooper looks a special talent at wide recevier too.

16. San Diego Chargers (2-2)

Eaking out last-gasp wins over the Browns is not great and the Chargers’ schedule doesn’t get much easier with games against the Packers and Steelers in the next two weeks.

17. Washington (2-2)

We were sure Washington would be the worst team in football this season. We were wrong and, with the NFC East in the turmoil it is, 8-8 could well see them reach the playoffs.

18. New York Giants (2-2)

After two devestating losses in the first two weeks, the Giants have bounced back well. Like Washington, the division means they are still very much in the postseason picture.

19. Baltimore Ravens (1-3)

After losing three games in which they were, perhaps, the better team, the Ravens went and beat the Steelers in one they most certainly were not.

20. Indianapolis Colts (2-2)

They may have two wins from their last two but this does not look like the Colts team we’ve grown used to watching since the Chuck Pagano and Andrew Luck era began. Still, their division is a garbage fire and they’re the best of a bad lot.

21. Tennessee Titans (1-2)

The Titans were on a bye-week and while it’ll be interesting to see how Marcus Mariota develops over the rest of the season, their year will be defined by divisional games which they have a habit of losing.

22. Kansas City Chiefs (1-2)

The Chiefs kicked seven field goals yesterday, that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about an offence as limited as Alex Smith’s throwing arm.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3)

Desperately unlucky not to beat the Colts in week four, the Jaguars look to have found a gem in TJ Yeldon at running back but there are still huge question marks over a defence that can lose to 40-year old Matt Hasselbeck.

24. Miami Dolphins (1-3)

Have Joe Philbin, Bill Lazor and/or Kevin Coyle been fired yet?

25. Cleveland Browns (1-3)

Speaking of dead men walking, Mike Pettine would do well to remember the only game his side has won this season was the one Josh McCown did not start at quarterback in.

26. Chicago Bears (1-3)

If you ever wondered how much Jay Cutler was worth to the Chicago Bears, it appears the answer is 22 points per game.

27. Philadelphia Eagles (1-3)

The only thing worse than Chip Kelly’s Eagles defence at the moment is Chip Kelly’s Eagles offence. Remember when DeMarco Murray used to be good?

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-3)

Pro-tip: Stop throwing the football to the team you’re playing against.

29. New Orleans Saints (1-3)

When you’re Drew Brees and you need overtime to beat the injury-decimated Dallas Cowboys does anyone really win?

30. Detroit Lions (0-3)

Matthew Stafford should be sending apologetic letters to everyone who picked Calvin Johnson in the first round of their fantasy football draft.

31. Houston Texans (1-3)

Never, ever, fall in love with the team that appears on Hard Knocks. They’ll only end up breaking your heart.

32. San Francisco 49ers (1-3)

Colin Kaepernick came within four yards of winning a Super Bowl. Colin Kapernick now looks like someone who struggles to throw the ball four yards.
