Roche finishes 10th on Stage 4 of Vuelta, now 8 seconds off lead

Meanwhile, today’s race was won by Dani Moreno of Spain, after he broke clear in the final kilometre.

IRELAND’S NICOLAS ROCHE finished 10th, as Dani Moreno (Katusha) broke clear in the final kilometre to win the fourth stage of the Tour of Spain today.

Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) regained the overall lead, while American Chris Horner remains in second, though Roche is now closer to the duo in third, just 8 seconds behind Nibali.

Moreno just didn’t have the legs at the end to take the second stage on Sunday, but he attacked with conviction on the 2km climb to the finish of Tuesday’s 189km ride from Lalin/a Estrada to Fisterra in Galicia.

He held off Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack) and Michael Matthews (Orica-GreenEdge), who finished second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Dan Martin is now 28th overall, after finishing in 41st place today.
